Master Trust Program
Offering financial security to individuals with disabilities
Many families wonder what will happen to their loved one with a disability once they are gone. The Life Navigators (formerly ARC of Greater Milwaukee) Master Trust allows families to plan for their loved one’s financial future.
What is a Trust?
A trust is a legal entity that owns and manages assets for the benefit of an individual. In this case, the person benefiting has a disability. Unlike other trusts, a Life Navigators Trust does not negatively impact someone’s eligibility for public benefits.
Why should I consider a Trust?
Setting up a financial plan for an individual with a disability is essential because funding for community–based programming is limited and traditional benefit programs often do not meet all of an individual’s needs.
Master Trust Options
Trust I Community Trust
Is set up by parents, grandparents or other third party grantor of a loved one with a disability. The trust uses assets from the third party and can be funded for immediate use or unfunded to be used in the future. The trust does not impact the individual’s ability to receive public benefits.
Trust II Pooled Trust
Is always funded with assets that are entirely those of the beneficiary. It is often established when an individual with a disability wants to protect their assets while maintaining public benefits.
